Parents FAQ’s

Below are some of the most common questions we get asked. If you query is not covered below, please do feel free to get in contact with us.

What is Rugby Pups and how are the classes run?

Rugby Pups aims to teach children the necessary early-life skills, through fun, dynamic activities in a safe environment. These skills include; hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, ball control including passing, catching and kicking, balance and awareness. Alongside the physical skills, Rugby Pups children learn about numbers, colours, improve their listening skills and learn to work in a team.

We run Saturday classes for children up to 8 years old – with the older age groups learning valuable skills through tag rugby. We hope that by making learning enjoyable, children will develop a natural love for sport which will enable them to lead a healthy and active life.

What should my child wear and what should I bring?

All children should wear well-fitting footwear and clothes that are suitable for playing sports. On registration we will provide your child with a Rugby Pups Kit. It is not mandatory to wear this but we have found that the children seem quite attached to their Rugby Pups Kits so far!

We would recommend bringing water for them as there is quite a lot of running around. We would prefer that artificial juice drinks like ‘Fruit Shoots’ are avoided (Even sugar-free) as we have found that they can cause hyperactivity and concentration issues.

Where the option for outside play exists, moulded football/rugby boots are recommended -but not necessary- when the ground is soft underfoot.

Do your classes stop for school holidays?

No, our terms run consecutively. If there is a break we will notify all parents by email in advance. Rugby Pups will always break over the Christmas period and Easter weekend.

How much does Rugby Pups cost?

At Rugby Pups we have tried hard to keep our costs as low as possible to enable parents to allow their child to participate. The initial annual membership fee of £30 includes insurance and a Rugby Pups kit – shirt and shorts. This membership renews annually at £30, which includes a new kit. You also have the option to buy new kits throughout the year if necessary.

In order to ensure that we are able to cover our costs we require parents to pay upfront per Rugby Pups term, which run alongside the school half terms and are usually for 6-8 weeks. Payment must be made via our online system.

Is there a membership fee?

Yes. All children will need to pay an initial annual membership fee of £30 on registration which covers the cost of our insurance and includes a Rugby Pups Kit. This membership renews annually at £30 and includes a new kit.

What if I join and my child doesn’t like it?

We encourage parents to allow their child a few sessions to get used to the environment, coaches and other children. Some children – particularly younger children – may need time to build up their confidence. We keep our terms short to allow children to get used to the sessions without having to commit to a long period of time. We can only offer refunds in exceptional circumstances.

What if I go on holiday part way through a term?

As our classes have limited capacity, we are unable to refund for classes missed. To retain your child’s place in our classes you will need to pay upfront for the entire term block prior to the start of those sessions or we will offer the place to those children on our waiting list. We do, however, have a holiday policy which allows parents to nominate 3 Saturdays per year that they are not charged for. You need to do this using our online system PRIOR to paying for the relevant term.

Do you do Holiday Clubs?

Yes, we do. During half term and holiday periods, Rugby Pups run holidays camps for 3 consecutive days. Check our bookings page or contact us for more information on these events.

I cannot come to the classes because they do not suit my schedule, but I really want my child to join Rugby Pups, what can I do?

As our company grows, so will the opportunity to hold more sessions in a wider area – please check back or contact us for details on new and upcoming sessions. If you are interested in discussing our Franchise opportunities please contact Neal on neal@rugbypups.co.uk
